The latest release of mobile apps

Image

Great news! Both Android and iOS mobile applications are live and available in Google Play and App Store. Make sure the auto update is turned on in your device and if not it’s time to update the app!

Now let’s get to what’s inside!

Swipe to delete:

We’ve added a new feature to both blocked and allowed lists. You can delete the messages from the list with no need to open it. Just swipe from the right to the left and the messages will be removed within the list. The deleted message can be restored if you click UNDO in the bottom note, which appears right after message deletion.

Another thing that we would like to mention is that we’ve added support for many of email providers (Yahoo, Microsoft, AOL, Google):

and if you are the owner of the email address at one of the listed above email provider you should be able to get spam free Inbox with less than a minute and for a price that is lower than a cup of coffee

We have also improved the overall productivity of the app and fixed some minor bugs.

We hope you enjoy the fresh apps! Feel free to contact us if you would like to provide us with feedback or report any issues you run into. Please send your feedback to support@spamdrain.com.

More updates to come so stay tuned!

Spamdrain+ Subscription Type

Here is a little description of our Spamdrain+ subscription features.

As you can see from the link the main difference between basic Spamdrain subscription and the Spamdrain+ is an unlimited number of email addresses and the price per address. Expensive subscription you might say, however, if you check the price per 5 email addresses or more, you will see that the more addresses are added the bigger discount you get. For example, if you would like to add 10 email addresses to the filtering you will get 15% discount, 100 email addresses: 35% discount.

Using multi user option in Spamdrain, each user logins to his own account, receives only his own reports, has its own blacklist/whitelist. In other words, each user account is “separated” from others. The owner of subscription is able to create/remove users and move email addresses between users. Payments in this subscription are handled by the owner, there is no need for the users to worry about expiration date. The best way to help your employees save their time 😉

Using Spamdrain+ subscription allows you to add your domain to the filtering. With domain filtering your email gets filtered before it reaches your email server. Using this guide you can check for more and set the filtering. Please note, using domain filtering you also pay per email address added to the filtering. The aliases are free to add 🙂

One more advantage of using Spamdrain+ is that you get your personal support. Whatever the issue, our support will gladly help you to resolve it.

5 tips on how to write an email effectively

Here are the most common tips that our spamster has gathered for his users:

1) Specify the subject field
Always clarify the subject with the words related to the message. Try to put the subject line that will describe the content of the entire letter. Never leave the subject line empty. Using the words like: attention, important, discount etc., could lead your message to the spam folder and there is a chance your message will never reach its recipients.

2) Sign your letters
Signature in a courteous manner shows your attitude to the recipient. Do not forget to add to your signature words like sincerely, regards or just BR. As an option, create a signature in your email client and it will be added at the end of the letter automatically.

3) Respond promptly
I guess, everyone had a situation waiting for an email reply for too long. Therefore, there is no need to make other people waiting. Even replying with something like: “Unfortunately busy at the moment, will reply tomorrow” will let the sender know that you are aware of the message.

4) CC or BCC ?
If you’d like to share your message with other recepients, besides the primary addressee, you can use CC or BCC fields. The abbreviation CC indicates those who are to receive a copy of an e-mail addressed to another person. The list of receipients in CC is shown for all other recepients of the message. BCC field, on the contrary, is available for hidden notification, not visible to any other receivers (including those in BCC). Indicating that you are adding a new participant to the list of recievers is considered a good practice.

5) Email address can be hacked
Do not send your passwords, confidential information, personal information etc. via email. Remember to update your email password regularly and with the secure, hard to guess password.

I hope those tips will be useful before clicking on send 🙂
Sincerely yours,

Google accounts sending spam to contacts in address book

Have you experienced that spam messages are sent from your address? I can guarantee you that you’re not alone. This happens to all of us. The reason is that the protocol used for sending e-mail, SMTP, is a fairly simple protocol designed in the very beginning of the internet’s history. Anyone may basically put any e-mail address in the From field when sending a message. Spammers use this a lot to make it appear like a friend or a colleague is sending you an important message. One e-mail virus for every tenth valid message

The last 5-6 weeks we have seen an increase of viruses blocked by the SpamDrain filter. The virus proportion has raised to levels around 2 – 3 %. This doesn’t sound much but compare this 0.2 -1 % for previous weeks. Two per cent corresponds to 15,000 viruses per week for our customers only. Since the spam proportion is around 80 % it means that for every tenth valid message there is a virus e-mail. Imagine the damage all these viruses could have made. Continue reading
